Four arrested in connection with fire at old Ag-Way building

(WKTV) - Oneida City Police arrested four juveniles Tuesday and Wednesday in connection with a large fire of a building on Hubbard Place in Oneida.

A 12-year-old, two 14-year-olds and a 15-year-old were all charged with criminal trespass in the third degree. One of the 14-year-olds is charged with arson in the fourth degree. An arrest of a 17-year-old on a criminal trespass charge is pending.

According to authorities, the juveniles entered the building unlawfully. One of the 14-year-olds allegedly lit a box of papers on fire, then spread the burning papers to other boxes of papers. The fire at the old Ag-Way building broke out on the afternoon of May 17. Flames were seen from miles, and the roof of a neighboring Lowe's was damaged from embers.

The four will appear at the Madison County Probation Department to answer the charges.
