Four charged in Russell Park vandalism
By NEWSChannel 2 Staff

ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - Four individuals have been charged in connection to the vandalism at Russell Park in the village of Ilion.

According to police, all four are youthful offenders and thus, their names are not being released.

Three of the subjects were arraigned in the Village of Ilion Court for charges of criminal mischief and arson. The fourth individual was referred to the Herkimer County Probation Department due to the subject's age.

Authorities say the arrests come from an investigation into spray painted graffiti at the lower pavilion in Russell Park and the burning of a wooden picnic table at the park. Some of the graffiti, which has since been covered up, made derogatory remarks regarding the fatal shootings in Herkimer and Mohawk this year.

The subjects were released to the custody of their parents and will be required to appear in the Village of Ilion Court at a later date.
