By SPENCER DAVIDSON

VERONA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Four people were rescued after their boat began to take on water in Oneida Lake, Saturday night.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Department, the vessel was traveling in an area known as Cozy Corners, near the Verona Beach Lighthouse, when the pontoon struck an underwater object.

A passing boat received the stranded ship's distress call, and was able to rescue the passengers to safety.

Further investigation into the incident revealed that the boat hit a metal object hidden under the water, tearing a hole in its hull, and causing it to take on water.

The potentially dangerous situation was resolved with no injuries being reported.
