Frankfort FD compresses training course from several months to two weeks

FRANKFORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - Some local instructors and the Frankfort Fire Chief have worked out a way to squeeze a 96 hour basic training course, which normally lasts four to six months, into two weeks.

During the summertime, students can deal with the condensed schedule and longer days that makes more efficient use of their time.

"A lot of these students are just out of high school, so they do have the summer off," said Frankfort Assistant Fire Chief Stan Dorozynski. "So they're able to give us two full weeks to complete the class."

Longer days and more efficient use of the time is what Dorozynski says allows them to compress all that class work into just fourteen days.
