(WKTV) - A Frankfort woman was killed in a Monday morning accident on Higby Road, New York State Police said.
Sara J. Testa, 19, of Frankfort was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident happened a little after 5 a.m. Monday.
According to authorities, Testa was driving eastbound on Higby Road when she failed to negotiate a turn and struck a guard rail. The vehicle went off the road and Testa was ejected from the car, which flipped over onto its roof and landed on top of her.
The investigation into the accident is continuing.
Testa was a student at Herkimer College, where she had completed her first year as a business administration major.
"It is unfortunate to lose anyone from our close community, but it is particulary tragic with someone so young," Herkimer College Interim President Nicholas Laino said. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sara's family and friends."
Testa's father, Mike Testa, serves on the school's board of trustees.
