Utica Police thank citizen who helped catch a fugitive

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police have taken a fugitive into police custody with your help. Stephen Dineen was arrested early Tuesday morning on the 1600 block of Genesee Street.

Dineen has a history of domestic violence toward women and was being sought as a fugitive from justice by United States Marshals.

The Utica Police Department would like to thank the citizen that recognized Dineen and called the police.

According to the United States Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, Dineen, 28, waswanted by the Utica Police Department on a warrant for Violation of Probation issued out of the Oneida County Integrated Domestic Violence Court.

Authorities said Dineen is currently on probation in Oneida County for a January 2011 arrest for stalking and criminal trespass. Dineen has a criminal history which includes arrests and convictions for larceny, burglary and domestic violence related criminal contempt.
