Funeral held for Laura Pickard

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - The funeral was held Saturday for Laura Pickard, the Whitesboro woman who went missing almost two years ago and whose lifeless body was found in October in a wooded area.

The 44-year-old went missing in March of 2009, just as America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk was finishing up in Utica. Police say Pickard left her group home to go for a walk and never returned.

A little over a month ago, her remains were recovered by the Eagle Valley Search Dogs in a wooded area off of Mohawk Street in Whitesboro.

The cause of death will remain undetermined according to New York State Police, however no suspicious circumstances are believed to be involved.

Pickard's funeral was held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Rome.
