Gadson arraigned in City Court on Utica's only homicide of 2012

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The legal proceedings have begun for the murder suspect in Utica's first and only homicide of 2012.

Jamal Gadson, the suspect in the July murder of Jermaine Stubbs, of Utica, was arraigned in Utica City Court on Tuesday.

Gadson, who faces one second-degree murder charge and one criminal possession of a weapon charge, was found in North Carolina and was brought back to Utica Tuesday.

He is now being held in Oneida County Court on local warrants, however, he will be indicted by a grand jury at the end of the week and will then go through proceedings through Oneida County Court.

"It was really just a logistical change from one court to another," said Sergeant Hauck of the Utica Police Department.

Gadson is expected to be arraigned in Oneida County Court Friday.
