Gazebo dedicated in Herkimer in memory of attorney

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Residents of municipal housing in Herkimer will have a new place to enjoy the outdoors.

A new gazebo and garden are now in place on North Prospect Street. The Herkimer Housing Authority had a dedication ceremony on Monday.

The gazebo is dedicated to former attorney Robert Applegate, who died in 2013. He served as general counsel for the authority for a number of years.

Construction for the gazebo was a year in the making.

"This whole property was involved with the flood, where we lost about $750,000 in not only damage in the buildings, but also equipment and furnishing," said Richard Dowe of the Herkimer Housing Authority.

Local attorneys and other public officials were also in attendance Monday.
