Governor unveils new snowmobiling ad campaign

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - You've heard "I Love New York."

But a new campaign adds a spin to that notion in an effort to promote snowmobiling in the state.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo visited Lowville this afternoon to promote "I Snowmobile New York." The press conference was at one of the many businesses that line the many miles of snowmobile trails -- the Ridgeview Inn in Lowville.

And afterward, Cuomo and an entire entourage, including the head of the New York State Snowmobile Association and many state officials -- such as State Sen. Joe Griffo of Rome, who represents that part of the North Country -- took off on a snowmobile.

"I Snowmobile New York" will be a $4.5 million ad campaign in newspapers, magazines, on the Internet and on TV that will begin on Jan. 1 promoting snowmobiling, skiing and other winter recreational activities in Upstate New York.

"We have not exposed New York -- even to New Yorkers -- let alone people around the country or people around the globe," Cuomo said. "They don't know what we have in Upstate New York, because we haven't shown them."

The governor says the "I Love New York" ad campaign has certainly made a huge difference bringing in billions of tourism dollars to the state, and he believes investing $4.5 million in the ad campaign will do the same.

The ads are expected to start running on Wednesday.
