Graduation Day for 21 corrections officers from Oneida and Herkimer Counties

ORISKANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - Friday was graduation day for 21 corrections officers in the area, with a ceremony held at the UFCW Local One office on Airport Road in Oriskany.

The new class is made up of 15 recruits from the Oneida County's Sheriff's Office and six from the Herkimer County Sheriff's Office and is part of their ongoing efforts to collaborate and share services.

With their Herkimer County neighbors, Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol says they were able to pull off a very successful academy.

"We need to keep both our facilities secure and up to minimum standards with staffing and we're just blessed to have a great group of young dedicated future or, as of today, actual correction officers that hopefully will spend a career with both our offices."

Sheriff Maciol says this class is a larger class than normal and all 21 are graduating with jobs already in place.
