UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Rome man was sentenced in Oneida County Court Friday for breaking bones in his seven-week-old daughter's arm and leg.

A jury back in September found Johnathon Greener guilty of assault. The investigation began after the child was brought to the hospital last winter with broken bones. Greener and his family tried to suggest the child had a brittle bone disorder. There was no evidence of this at trial.

At Greener's sentencing today, Fred Robenski, a relative who, along with his wife, currently has cutody of Jayleigh, addressed the court, and Greener.

"You were given the most precious gift of all. A baby daughter. And you broke her. Over and over and over," Robenski said directly to Greener.

Greener himself proclaimed his innocense right up until correction officers lead him to prison.

"You're trying to convict an innocent man. I don't care how much time you give me. I did not do these crimes, therefore i'm not going to admit something I did not do," said Greener.

The judge sentenced Greener to 14 years in prison-two consecutive seven-year sentences.
