Health care professionals honored for their work at annual luncheon

WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - On Tuesday, local health care professionals were honored for their work in the Mohawk Valley.

The 7th annual Regional Healthcare Recognition Luncheon was held at Hart's Hill Inn in Whitesboro on Tuesday afternoon where the Genesis Group and the County Medical Societies recognized the areas top physicians, nurses, volunteers and more.

Organizers said that Tuesday's recipients go above and beyond to treat the patients in their care.

"Healthcare is a billion dollar industry in this area and we have a tremendous economic impact," said Cassie Winter of Rome Memorial Hospital. "But most importantly, it's the care that we provide to those who place their trust in our hands."

Dr. Joseph Gale from Mohawk Valley Retina earned the Outstanding Physician honor and Outstanding Nurse went to Cheryl LaQuay from Valley Health Services.

Angelina Roche of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare was awarded Outstanding Healthcare Leadership, Susan Cooper of St. Elizabeth Medical Center was given the award for Outstanding Behavioral Healthcare Professional, and Virginia Clive of Folts Homes was given the award for Outstanding Nurse Practitioner.

Jane Gwise of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare was awarded Outstanding Volunteer, and Dr. John DeTraglia and James Stasaitis were awarded as 2012 Hall of Distinction Inductees.
