Heart Run participant collapses, needed AED shock

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - While the America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk raised fund for heart health and awareness, Saturday, during the run, those practices came into play.
A 66-year old male participant in the event collapsed and became unresponsive near the Holiday Inn on Burrstone Rd.
According to State troopers on scene, an unknown EMT who was in the vicinity of the victim, began to perform CPR, while one of the troopers used an AED to shock the man's heart.

Following the AED administration, the man was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, just down the road, by Edward Ambulance where he is now in the Intensive Care Unit.
