Herkimer County YWCA expands and relocates

ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Herkimer County YWCA is growing, and with that has relocated its facilities.

The YWCA has been expanding its Child Advocacy Center and Sexual Violence Services program, and therefore has moved to a building in Ilion to accommodate more space.

The new facilities will contain two interview rooms for children of all ages, and a separate room for adults as well.

The new location was shown off during an open house, Thursday.

"We're having the open house because we're really proud of our new space and we really want the community to come in and become familiar with what we do," said Kelly Conroy of YWCA. "We hope that we can expand the knowledge of what we do here.

"Particularly with adults, a lot of people don't know we provide services to adults as well."

The new YWCA building is located at 284 West Main St., in Ilion.

Their old building, in Herkimer, will be up for sale in 2014.
