Herkimer Police: Businesses beware of counterfeit bills

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Herkimer Police Department is currently investigating an influx of counterfeit bill complaints.

Throughout the village, stores have been reporting $10 and $20 counterfeits over the past week.

Area stores are urged to check the bills they receive carefully. According to police, the counterfeits turned in are of poor quality and easily identified as fake.

Businesses should not return the bills to the customer and immediately call the police.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is also asked to call Herkimer Police at 315-866-4330.
