Herkimer athletes to go before "athletic code committee"

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - More high school athletes have come forward to admit attending the underage drinking party in Ilion that led to student suspensions and the forfeit of a Friday night football game by Ilion High School.

Herkimer School Superintendent Gary Tutty tells NEWSChannel 2 that some Herkimer High School football players admit to being at the party in Ilion back on September 22. Players from other sports and non-sport students also admit to attending the party.

More than 20 Ilion football players were suspended for one game.

Tutty says the Herkimer players will go before an "athletic code committee" in the next couple of days.

By Wednesday it should be known if Herkimer's next football game will be put into jeopardy by the admission.

Some Mohawk students have also admitted to being at the party, but denied drinking. The Interim Superintendent says there have been no suspension.
