HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Herkimer woman is now facing charges after authorities say she attempted to steal a home theatre system from the Herkimer Wal-Mart.

On March 23, 2012 the Herkimer Police Department responded to Wal-Mart for a report of a female fleeing from an Asset Protection Associate. The police located the female - Sarah Katherine Binney, 27, of Herkimer, fleeing in a vehicle a couple of blocks away from Wal-Mart. Binney was subsequently arrested after being identified by the Wal-Mart Employee.

Authorities said she had attempted to steal a home theatre system and through an investigation, it was learned that she had stolen two televisions and three home theatre systems in separate incidents, within the past week from Wal-Mart.

Binney is currently charged with one count of third-degree burglary and Petit larceny. She was arraigned in the Village of Herkimer Court and sent to Herkimer County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash and $50,000 bond on a recommendation from Herkimer County District Attorney Jeff Carpenter.

The investigation is continuing and authorities said more charges are likely forthcoming.
