Holiday traffic expected to be congested in New Hartford

TRAFFIC ALERT (WKTV) - The State Department of Transportation is coordinating efforts with state and local police to manage traffic on NY State Routes 5 & Commercial Drive for the upcoming 2012 holiday shopping season.
The regional traffic center will be monitoring traffic conditions through the use of closed circuit television cameras along the corridor, and will remotely adjust traffic signal timings to improve traffic flow.
For the extended Thanksgiving holiday weekend, traffic is expected to be heavy beginning November 21 through November 25 with traffic heaviest on “Black Friday”.
The DOT also asks motorists to be patient and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices.
