Holland Patent man charged after Town of Floyd accident

(WKTV) - A Holland Patent man faces charges after an accident in the Town of Floyd on Sunday, New York State Police said.

Mervin L. Broadbent Jr., 54, of Holland Patent is charged with driving while intoxicated and was issued citations for failure to keep right and operating in violation of restrictions.

According to officials, at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Broadbent was driving a Nissan northbound when he struck a guiderail on State Route 274 in the Town of Floyd. He then struck a mailbox and continued onto a lawn before his vehicle rolled onto its passenger side.

Broadbent submitted to a breath test that results in a .09 percent blood alcohol content.
