TRENTON, N.Y. (WKTV) - A 70 year old Holland Patent man was injured after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle Wednesday night, State Police said.

According to New York State Police, at roughly 6:49 p.m. on Wednesday, Frank J. Colby, 70, of Holland Patent was riding his bicycle traveling west on the shoulder of Mapledale Road up a hill and into the glare of the setting sun.

Authorities said he attempted to dismount his bicycle and entered the westbound driving lane of Mapledale Road.

State Police said Amy M. Locke, 39, of Holland Patent, driving a 2006 Honda was unable to see him due to the glare and his dark clothing and subsequently struck him.
