Home Expo kicks off at Sangertown Square

By LEXIE O'CONNOR

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Home Expo kicked off Friday evening at Sangertown Square bringing local home improvement experts all under one roof.

While over 50 vendors showed off their businesses, shoppers learned how you don't necessarily have to make a big investment to improve your home.

"Projects do cost a lot of money but what people are doing more, they're remodeling their houses," says Expo Director Mark Harjung. "They're picking and choosing, doing smaller projects. It just might take them a couple of years to get what they wanted done but they're getting it done."

From new insulation and windows to even adding a hot tub attendants shopped and talked to experts about improvements they could make to their homes, even on a budget.

"Our cabinets are 25 years old and they told us we could take the front of them and put on these fronts," says Donna Mortise of Holland Patent after learning about cabinet resurfacing. "We can pick out our own front, they can match it, and use our existing cabinets so that would save quite a bit of money."

The expo featured local home improvement businesses and experts all under one roof.

"You get a lot of different people you can talk to all in one place," says Michael Haas of Whitesboro. "This is just a big time saver."

The Home Expo runs Saturday from 10 am. - 7 pm. and then Sunday from 11 am. - 5 pm. at the former Circuit City at Sangertown Square in New Hartford.
