Howe High Adventures takes the fun of Howe Caverns above ground

SCHOHARIE COUNTY, N.Y. (WKTV) - A lot of changes are happening at Howe Caverns as it officially unveiled one of its new attractions Thursday. However, don't expect to go underground for this one.

You're used to going deep underground when visiting Howe Caverns, but now you can sail high above at the new "Howe High Adventures."

"Nothing but compliments, people are having fun," said Mark Spaulding, the operations manager of Howe High Adventures of reaction so far.

Once you harness up, you can try your balancing skills on the two-tiered ropes course, or if you're looking for something a little higher, and less work, you can check out the zip line.

The zip line is between 30 to 40 feet high and takes you around the ropes course. Spaulding says this new attraction not only helps attract more tourists to Howe Caverns, but also the entire region.

"This is a stepping stone to get people here two days, let them spend the night in Schoharie County and see the other attractions instead of coming for an hour and a half and leaving," he said.

"Howe High Adventures" is one of several expansion projects that are being introduced at the caverns over the next year.
