Hundreds gather to celebrate Independence Day at Proctor Park

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - An Independence Day celebration brought hundreds out to Proctor Park on Friday.

Formerly called Party in the Park, this is the fifth year the celebration has been held. Folks enjoyed live bands, bounce houses for kids, food and beverage vendors and of course, spectacular fireworks.

"A lot of things happening in the world today, a lot of challenges," said Ray Durso Jr., executive director of Genesis Group. " We as Americans need to come together on this day to celebrate independence, to celebrate community, to celebrate family."

The Genesis Group and the City of Utica combine efforts to put on the event.
