By WKTV News

(WKTV) - National Grid says that thousands are without power in the North Country as strong winds whip through the area. A strong line of wind and rain moving through much of New York State has brought reports of downed power lines and trees. Along Routes 12 and 28 heading toward Blue Mountain Lake and Raquette Lake, thousands are without power. Close to Boonville -- in Woodgate, around 900 homes are without power. Heading north to Eagle Bay, thousands more are in the dark. Power is expected to be restored to many of those homes around noon today. Central Hudson Gas and Electric reports just under 900 customers without power, mostly in Dutchess County. NYSEG reports more than 6,800 customers without electricity, the majority of them - about 4,100 - in Westchester and Putnam counties. The National Weather Service has issued flood watches and high wind advisories for many parts of the upstate region. Meteorologists say up to 2 inches of rain has fallen in the Rochester area, with wind gusts topping 40 mph in some areas. To check the latest outages, head to National Grid's website:
