Ilion man accused of holding up clerk at Mohawk Fastrac

MOHAWK, N.Y. (WKTV) - An Ilion man has been charged after a robbery at the Fastrac Market in the Village of Mohawk.

According to Mohawk Police, officers responded to the Fastrac on West Main Street around 4 a.m. on Saturday, January 5 for a report of a robbery.

Police say while no weapon was displayed, Matthew Mowers, 28, of Ilion, physically forced the cashier to open the register and give him the money.

Mowers has been charged with third-degree robbery and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. He was arraigned and remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.

According to police, all of the money taken during the robbery was recovered.

The Herkimer Police Department assisted in the investigation.
