Ilion man charged after break-in at Herkimer business

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - An Ilion man has been charged in connection to a break-in at a local business.

Around 3:52 a.m. on Sunday, April 15, Herkimer Police officers, along with officers from the Mohawk Police Department, responded to an alarm at a local business on Mohawk Street in the Village of Herkimer.

When officers arrived on the scene, they noticed an unsecured window and door to the business. During the initial investigation, police said two subjects were located in the area by the responding patrols.

After further investigation, police said Shane M. Rakentine, 22, of Ilion, was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal trespass. He was arraigned in the Village of Herkimer Court and remanded to Herkimer County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash and $3,000 bond.
