Ingersoll sentencing adjourned due to family medical emergency
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The mother of a murdered Utica woman will have to wait a little longer to close the book on a painful chapter of her life.
Denise Saunder's daughter, Jennifer Bennett, was more than six years ago.
Tuesday, in Oneida County Court, the man who killed Bennett was supposed to be sentenced, but Craig Ingersoll's attorney asked for an adjournment due to a family medical emergency.
Prosecutors say he paid Bennett for sex, then strangled her to death when she refused to honor a specific request.
A group of sledders found Bennett's body behind the Deerfield Fire House.
Ingersoll's new sentencing date is February 19th.
