Judge recuses himself from case of woman challenging IDA for Marcy land

By JOLEEN FERRIS

MARCY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The legal saga continues as the Mohawk Valley EDGE tries to acquire 55 acres of land off of Hazard Road in Marcy for a possible nanotech site.

The owner of the property - an elderly woman - doesn't want to sell it.

Margaret Farmer lives in a small farmhouse across the street from the land. It's been in her family for more than 100 years, and she doesn't want it to be developed.

However, she will, in all likelihood, lose the property through the process of eminent domain.

Her only hope now is to challenge, in court, the Oneida County Industrial Development agency's appraisal of the land.

One local judge has recused himself from hearing the case; now it has to be re-assigned.
