UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - He's retiring from the force, but may still have a few bones to pick, literally.

The Utica Police Department announced Thursday afternoon that K-9 Officer Rock, an 8 year old German Shepherd would officially be retiring from the force.

Rock and his K-9 handler, Sergeant Don Cinque began working together seven years ago and have been very active throughout his career, tracking numerous suspects.

UPD Spokesperson Steve Hauck said Sgt. Cinque and Rock are credited with the apprehension of dozens of suspects, averaging roughly 120 calls a year, and ending with a total of roughly 840 calls of service in the team's career together.

Hauck states that Rock will move on to retirement, having served the City of Utica with distinction.
