Keeping Herkimer Home open a big topic at annual Legislative Breakfast

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce held their annual legislative breakfast on Friday morning.

On the menu were pancakes, eggs, and plans by local lawmakers to keep the General Herkimer Home open.

The General Herkimer Home was closed by the state last year as part of cost saving measures.

Chamber members told State Senator James Seward, and Assemblyman Marc Butler, that keeping the historic site open is very important to them.

"We need it to stay open," said the Chamber's Executive Director John Scarano. "It is an economic engine for us."

Seward and Butler say they hope to get the General Herkimer Home situation resolved by April 1, when the state budget is due.
