By WKTV Weather

CENTRAL NEW YORK (WKTV) - A lake effect snow warning is in effect for Northern Oneida County Thursday night, while a snow advisory is in effect for Southern Oneida County, Herkimer County and Lewis County.

For throughout the day Wednesday, meteorologists say temperatures will be much cooler and breezy with a mix of clouds and sun. Most of the day will be dry as cold air arrives from the northwest.

Wednesday highs are expected to be in the low 40s while wind gusts are expected between 20-25mph.

Lake effect snow is expected to develop after dark Wednesday night. Winds will average West-Northwest, bringing the band primarily across Central Oneida County.

The latest data suggests the band may briefly drop south into the Mohawk Valley. The highest of accumulations (in the order of 3-6" or more) will be in Central Oneida County.

By the weekend, the area is expected to warm up and dry out and aside from a brief shower late Sunday, the weekend is expected to stay dry.
