Large quantity of marijuana seized in Lewis County

(WKTV) - A large quantity of marijuana was seized Friday in the town of Montague, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.

In a joint investigation by the Lewis County Sheriff's Department and the New York State Forest Rangers, the plants were seized after officiers hiked into state forest lands in Montague, officials said.

According to officials, four separate grow sites were discovered, which yielded 147 high-quality plants. The plants were harvested and backpacked out of the area, where they were taken to a secured location.

The total weight was estimated at 400 pounds with an estimated street value in excess of $100,000, officials said.
