Last-minute CNY2NYC Run a huge success

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Central New York runners raised more than $5,000 Sunday morning during the last-minute CNY2NYC Run.

The event was put together late last week, before the New York City Marathon was cancelled to raise money for Hurricane Sandy victims.

About 140 people showed up around 8:00 Sunday morning to run along the Canal Trail. It started off North Genesee Street in Utica and it was set up for an entire marathon, 26.2 miles.

People were invited to make their runs shorter if they were not prepared for the long distance. Many ran half marathons or just a few miles so they could support the Red Cross.
