Lawmakers shocked by Petraeus news

ASHINGTON (AP) - Sen. Dianne Feinstein says word of the resignation of CIA Director David Petraeus "was like a lightning bolt."

The California Democrat who heads the Senate Intelligence Committee and other lawmakers want to know why they weren't told sooner about the FBI investigation that revealed an extramarital affair between Petraeus and his biographer, Paula Broadwell.

The woman who received emails that led to the FBI's discovery of CIA Director David Petraeus' extramarital affair has been identified as 37-year-old Jill Kelley of Tampa, Fla.

A senior U.S. military official identified Kelley, who serves as an unpaid social liaison to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. That's where the military's Central Command and Special Operations Command are located.
