(WKTV) - Laura Lawrence has resigned as superintendent of the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville, the OESJ district and Lawrence announced.

The OESJ District was formed on July 1, when Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School and St. Johnsville Central School merged. Before the merger, Lawrence had served as superintendent of the St. Johnsville Central School District.

In a statement, Lawrence thanks the board of education for allowing her to serve and wishes the district well in the future.

Lawrence was placed on paid administrative leave in November. No reason was given, as the board said it was a personnel matter.

Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES District Superintendent Dr. Patrick Michel has been serving as the acting OESJ superintendent.
