Learning about heart disease on "girls day out"

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - It was a "girls day out" Saturday at the Radisson Hotel in Downtown Utica.

The event is called Makeover My Heart and it's designed to raise awareness about the effects of heart disease among women. It combines unique and interactive learning experiences with the casual feel of a "girls day out".

Heart disease is the number one killer of women in America and this gathering is a way to inform and educate the community about symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention.

The event is sponsored by the Mohawk Valley Heart Institute at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare and St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
