LOWVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Lewis County Trails Coordinator has been charged after an investigation into misuse of county funds.

According to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office, Robert C. Diehl, 43, of Lowville has been charged with felony counts of third-degree grand larceny, first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, and a misdemeanor count of official misconduct.

Authorities said it is alleged that during the last part of October, Diehl falsely signed and submitted a purchase order and voucher for payment of stone products purchased from a local vendor. Investigators say that after payment had been made, it was discovered that a portion of the products purchased were actually for his personal use at his residence on Gardner Road in Lowville.

Diehl turned himself in at the Sheriff's Office on Tuesday morning where he was processed and then arraigned in Village of Lowville Court. He was released on his own recognizance pending further court action.
