Lewis County man accused of striking female with vehicle

LOWVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Lewis County man has been charged after a domestic dispute that authorities say resulted in a woman being struck by a vehicle.

According to the Lewis County Sheriff's Department, Brandon M. Dicob, 20, of Copenhagen, has been charged with unsafe backing, driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired after the incident that happened Saturday, September 8.

Sheriff's Deputies say the arrest came following a response to a 911 call about a motor vehicle accident on West Road in the Town of Lowville. Authorities say the 911 caller was unsure where they were on West Road and did not give much information, but that dispatchers could hear a female in the background screaming.

Deputies located the scene, which was a short distance from the State Route 177 intersection and upon arrival, they noticed a vehicle parked sideways in the roadway with a female laying on the ground partially under the rear of the vehicle.

Authorities determined that Dicob and a woman were involved in a domestic incident and somehow the female had exited the vehicle. Dicob then allegedly went to turn his vehicle around and struck the female. She was transported to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica for unspecified injuries.

While speaking with Dicob, deputies detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage and administered sobriety tests at the scene, which he failed. Dicob was arrested and transported to the Lewis County Public Safety Building for processing where he registered a .07% BAC.

Dicob was arraigned at the Town of Lowville Court and was remanded to the Lewis County Jail on $750 cash or $1,500 bond on the charges.

Authorities say the investigation is still continuing and more charges are possible.

Deputies were assisted at the accident scene by Lowville Fire and Lewis County Search and Rescue.
