Lewis County man dead after early morning accident in Jefferson County

WILNA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Lewis County man is dead following a motorcycle crash early Thursday morning in Jefferson County.

According to New York State Police, Jason C. Roch, 31, of Croghan was operating his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on South Washington Street in the Town of Wilna when he lost control on a curve near Oxford Street. Authorities said Roch went off the roadway and was thrown from the motorcycle.

State Police said the crash is believed to have occurred around 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning and was discovered by an off-duty Carthage Fireman who was en route to work at 6:50 a.m.

Roch was pronounced dead at the scene and the investigation is continuing.
