FRANKFORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - Sgt. Dominick Licari was honored Tuesday morning posthumously with the State Senate's Liberty Medal.

Senator James Seward said it's the highest honor bestowed by the State Senate. It's presented to recognize those who were willing to sacrifice their lives in defense of America, and the causes of freedom and world peace.

Seward said, "The Liberty Award is confirmed on a very special few. Those who have distinguished themselves by meritorious action against hostile odds. No question Sgt. Dominick Licari was that type of individual."

Senator Seward also attended this morning's services for Sgt. Licari.
