Herkimer County man dead after motorcycle accident in Little Falls

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Herkimer County man is dead after his motorcycle collided with a car in the City of Little Falls on Monday afternoon.

According to Little Falls Police, the accident occurred at the intersection of State Route 5 and State Route 169 in Little Falls around 2:51 p.m. on Monday, August 19.

Authorities say that Jodi Willett, 33, of Ingham's Mills was driving east on State Route 5 on a motorcycle when a car driven by Thomas Gillette, 67, of Lyons Falls pulled out into the path of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle struck the driver's rear door of the car and Willett suffered serious injuries from the crash, police said. He was airlifted from the scene to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said Gillette was not injured in the crash.

According to witnesses, there was a third, unidentified vehicle that may have witnessed the accident but left before police arrived on the scene. Authorities are asking anyone with information as to the identity of the third vehicle to please contact the Little Falls Police Department at 315-823-1122.

The investigation is ongoing.

Little Falls Police were assisted by the New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Team out of Oneida, by the Little Falls Fire Department, Herkimer County Emergency Service Coordinator Robert Vandawalker and Mercy Flight out of Schuyler.
