Little Falls native aims to spread entrepreneurial spirit to area

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Martin Babinec is a successful Silicon Valley entrepreneur who was born and raised in Little Falls.

He started a company called Tri-Net that now grosses more than $1 billion a year. He credits his success with his surroundings, including seasoned entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley.

If he had started in Upstate New York, Babinec says he would have failed. But now he is making it his mission to change that, with a nonprofit group called Upstate Venture Connect.

"By creating a community that is region wide -- not just centered in the Mohawk Valley -- but allowing entrepreneurs that might be here actually get connected to people in Syracuse, Buffalo, Ithaca, Binghamton, all of those areas, have resources that can help start-ups grow," Babinec said.

His organization aims to connect local entrepreneurs with start-up events, business incubators and investors.
