Little Falls pupils salute the flag at Friday ceremony

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Youngsters at Benton Hall Academy in Little Falls showed off their patriotism with stars and stripes on Friday.

About 500 elementary pupils gathered in the school gymnasium for a special Flag Day ceremony. It's usually outside, but the weather put a cramp in their plans. State Sen. James Seward and Little Falls Mayor Robert Peters joined the kids to talk about the importance of loving the red, white and blue.

The principal hopes the dignitaries will make an impact.

"They listen to grown-ups, and they enjoying hearing about it," said Joe Long, Benton Hall Academy principal. "Having grown-ups come and talk to them, they enjoy it and it's important."

The official date for Flag Day is Saturday.

There are several events planned for Saturday.

At 11 a.m., there will be a new flagpole dedicated at the B-52 Monument at Griffiss.
