Local bars packed on Thanksgiving Eve

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Local bars were packed Wednesday night with people in town for Thanksgiving. Prop's Inn in New Hartford says Thanksgiving Eve is their busiest night of the year.

"Well there's a lot of people from New Hartford that went to school here, from the surrounding area actually that this was their place from the time they were able to drink and this is where they migrate to," said Bartender Robin Sortino.

Robin Sortino has been bartending at Prop's Inn for the past 7 years. She says she prepares for the night mentally and with extra beer, liquor and staff as the night before Thanksgiving brings a true change from their typical Wednesday night.

"Yeah there's really no comparison," said Sortino. "We always have a good crowd here but I don't usually have two people behind the bar, we don't have bar backs and someone at the door it's just a much bigger volume."

Bartenders say in years past they've even had to turn people away at the door of Prop's Inn and that this business continues all weekend long.
