(WKTV) - The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce announced the top local businesses of the year Thursday.
Nearly 260 professionals attended the luncheon at Twin Ponds. The finalists were selected based on staying power and response to challenges.
In the not-for-profit category, The Boilermaker Road Race took home an award, as did Munson Williams.
Piggy Pat's Barbecue was honored in the business with fewer than 50 employees category, while Northern Safety took home the business with more than 50 employees award.
"Wherever the opportunities are that we see areas to grow the business -- whether it be in our new custom plant that we've talked about in the past or in acquiring other companies -- we're looking at many different ways in growing the organization," said Sal Longo, owner and chief executive operator of Northern Safety Co.
The businesses were also selected based on their involvement with the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce.
