Local cheerleaders win National Championship

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The North Utica Rader Cheerleading squad enters this holiday season on top.

The squad returned home National Champions, after winning their Midget Co-Ed division during the competition in Florida.

While there are several champions in the competition, all at different levels, the team from North Utica took home National honors for their age group.

The whole trip was quite the experience for the wide-eyed Central New Yorkers.

"For some it was their first trip to Disney, which was also great." said Kim Zenovio, Cheer Coordinator. "But also it was the first group ever to make the National Championships, and become National Champions down there.

"We couldn't be prouder of them."

The team celebrated their championship while already beginning to prepare for next season, showing their level of dedication.
