Local girl sells bracelets to help those who are in need

(WKTV) - A local fifth-grader decided she wanted to do good this holiday season, so she took it into her own hands to help those in need.

Alicia Contreras and her friends organized a club where they made bracelets to sell to friends, family and teachers. The bracelets sold for 25 cents and all proceeds went to the children's hospital.

She also used part of her proceeds to make toiletry bags, along with cookie and candy boxes to donate to the Utica Rescue Mission.

"We love caring for other people, and wanted to be nice and donate," she said.

Alicia chose to donate to the children's hospital because she says they were always there for her family and her disabled brother.
