Local leaders gather in Whitesboro for National Day of Prayer

(WKTV) - Local leaders gathered to pray on Thursday as part of National Day of Prayer.

A different representative led the prayer for each category of the seven pillars of power: Government, military, education, media, family, church and business. The event was at Hart's Hill Inn.

"Prayer is very powerful," said Judy Hauck of the Good News Center. "Michael Reagan, the son of Ronald Reagan, said a nation without prayer will not be a nation at all, so we need to pray in order for our nation to move forward and prosper."

In 1952, President Harry Truman declared the first Thursday in May as the National Day of Prayer.
