Local officials, lawmakers anticipate State of State address
ALBANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - You can feel the excitement as leaders from all over the state and from across the Mohawk Valley arrive to hear the big speech.
The governor is expected to lay out his agenda for the upcoming year and touch on a variety of issues including Sandy Aid, raising the minimum wage, and funding for local schools.
Perhaps the most controversial, a ban on assault rifles. New York State is 1 of 7 states that already have some laws in place, but this proposal is expected to be much stricter.
With Remington Arms a major employer in the area, this certainly has the potential to have a large impact on our local economy.
Another issue expected to be discussed, mandate relief.
